This Years Best WTF Track - "Snake"

At night there's a snake hiding under my bed...

I was sitting in the g-lab sorting through a giant batch of emails when I came across the "Reverse Engineering" remix of Oy's single "Snake". The strange voice inflections had me cracking enough to rip out the headphone chord so others could take part in the hilarious and bizarre musical experience.

The original track summons the spirit of salad fingers while enticing you with gorillaz style falsetto. The Reverse Engineering version is more comical, providing you with blunt bold face lyrics over a ghetto-golden-eye instrumental.

There's also an acid house version mixed by Sutekh, if you're into acid house. I find the genre to be near unlistenable seeing as I'm usually sober but for those mad trippers poppin fat mollie hits, you might enjoy this one.

PARTY TIP: Go find a huge crowd of people and play snakes (r.e. remix) on full volume. Whatever is meant to happen will happen.

Wallpaper. - Gettin Drip (Vid & Mp3)

Here's the third single off the "Doo Doo Face" debut album from Cali's infamous "Wallpaper". Fresh into their tour with Peaches and Amanda Blank, the group has provided some stellar clips with each of their latest releases. The infectious loop, whimsical strumming and general care free nature of the song will have you smitten.

They're so money.

Kid Sister - Life On TV (Redlight Remix)

Redlight has put out some previously outstanding remixes but this newest Kid Sister jam is good enough to have ewoks jukin all over endor's forest moon. Adding some electro flair to the already ghettofab beat makes this one a perfect set closer. I will say that the mix runs too long and the ending synth chords clash against the original instrumental.

Don Diablo - I Am Not From France (Linus Loves Remix)

Don Diablo continues his "I Am Not From France" EP promotion (set for dec 11 release) with a brand new Linus Loves remix. Part ecstasy part Tangerine Dream, this latest mix is both relaxing and engaging. The more I listen to this one the more I fall in love with it (although it does sound a bit like a sample track used to show you what you can make with your new music software)

Major Lazer - Keep It Going Louder (Vid)

Major Lazer "Keep it Going Louder" from Eric Wareheim on Vimeo.

One of my favorite Major Lazer songs has gotten the Wareheim treatment (following a pattern of vibrantly colorful sexploitation clips). When I first heard this song I wondered how the masses would like it, being an extremely bubblegum pop song too cute for blog house and not quite accessible enough for the radio.

This video will be the way in which this song is accepted into the blog culture.

Oh and Great Job!

Golden Filter - Thunderbird [Video] + Commentary

The Golden Filter shelled out some big bucks to get R.L. Stine to write their storyboard for the new video single, "Thunderbird". Stine says, "The video reflects the narrative of a couple young teens, just having closed shop at Anthropology and wanting to unwind after a hard day of putting together several giant wooden deer decorations. The Golden Filter gave me a lot of artistic freedom with the project. I asked them what their ideas were and they handed me a piece of paper with three words on it:"

Stine enjoyed working on the project so much that he asked the Filter crew to collaborate on his upcoming feature length, "Lets Get Invisible!" (2011 /Focus Features).

5 Extremely Choice Tracks

Mailbox just exploded! When I was picking up the pieces and rummaging through the debris I found a few jems I'd like to share with you.

[South Central] These producers caught my ear when they remixed a Wombats track way back when. Their mixes are composed of pure adrenaline, testing the output of your sweat glands with every hyper active dance killer they put out. Look for their debut LP. "The Owl of Minerva" in 2010.

[Dada Life] By now you should know a little something about Dada Life. They are getting huge support form various Producers (Laidback Luke, Tiesto etc) and continue to put out signature sound with every mix (including a perfect blend of appropriate bass synth sounds).

[Viking] One of the blog cultures most promising young producers goes by the name of Viking. His best remix to date has Amanda Blank on the track. I'm speechless when listening to this mix.

[Blatta & Inesha] If you like the Dada Life track, you'll also enjoy this comparable new jam produced by B&I. In this tune you'll catch a nice blend of funk samples, bleeps, bloops and expletives.

[The Knocks] The Knocks have been bringing Heavy Rock Music to the internet since 2k___ and we're all happy about it. Under the Sheets is the second Goulding track they've conquered. Check it out if you like girls singing over dance music.

[Local Love] WHO IS DIARRHEA PLANET?!?!

Not very much is known about this local group that seems to have just appeared in the spotlight out of nowhere. People have their panties quite bunched up about their SUPER CRAZZZZY NAME which makes me think a lot of them missed out on 3rd grade.

Their shows live up to whatever pre-conceived notions you could come up with about whether you like them or not. Take the DP challenge and go see them live wherever they decided to play out next.

After listening to their Debut E.P. "Aloha!" a couple times, It's become pretty clear that they have no real agenda or targeted audience to please. They're most likely just a bunch of dudes playing music for fun.

Their sound is a mixture of poon-wave, post-soft-core-murder-surf and dick pop.

Love it or Hate it, here's their full E.P. FO FREE
